Seven years of working as editors and proofreaders have undoubtedly enriched our experience in understanding the writer’s viewpoint of things. Naturally, we’ve also ended up thinking about the English language and its various nuances from many perspectives. These perspectives dominate our water cooler conversations. They come up in the research we do to curate content for our beloved Resource Centre. They come up when we edit and proofread your work, of course.
So far, we’ve translated these ideas through articles, infographics, checklists, and other written mediums. But now, we’re ready for the next step: podcasting.
This is why we’ve created The PaperTrue Studio, a sub-label under which we’ll be creating and publishing podcasts.
The PaperTrue Studio is a name that is dear to our hearts. It is a virtual commemoration of a space that actually exists in our office–a little studio on the ground floor! Not only was it a space of relaxation and recreation, but it was also a space of unexpected conversations filled with epiphanies and intellectual curiosities. When this came up in the conversation of our budding podcast, it was universally hailed as perfect! We could not have imagined a better name than The PaperTrue Studio (sometimes known simply as The Studio) for a space of exploration.
The PaperTrue Studio‘s first podcast series is The Tutor’s Take: Conversations about ESL Teaching and Learning, which will be a series of conversations with ESL tutors from all across the world. Each episode features one guest, who tells us all about their teaching experiences. As editors, we hope to connect with the ESL teaching community, and exchange ideas about how English is taught and how we make the language more accessible and engaging to learners.
So no matter who you are, whether you’re a beginner, a native speaker, a teacher, or someone who is just interested in learning how English is taught — we welcome you to The Tutor’s Take with open arms.
Our introductory episode releases on Thursday, July 15, 2021. So we hope to see you then!
You can find us on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Anchor, or wherever you like to get your podcasts from. If you want to follow the conversations with subtitles, you can also find us on our YouTube Channel!
Don’t forget to subscribe to us, so get notified whenever we release new episodes.
We’re so excited for you to join us, and we hope you do. We can’t wait for you to see what we have in store!
